This association organizes in Giulianova an lnternational Musical Band Festival.

This year it is at its 10th edition and it will take place starting from September 25th to 27th.

Such date is not the official one, because tbe event has been moved because of the heavy quake that struck the interiors of Abruzzo. It had to take place from April 22nd to 26th 2009.

It is a big event with groups of musicians in typical customs which for five days play music and parade in the old city centre of Giulianova and along tbe sea front.

This event has been promoted by the Cultural Association “Father Candido Donatelli” which has been organizing very important cultural events for many years.

An original Festival

The International Musical Band Festival stands out for its originality. It is the only one in Ita1y.

The President of Republic's Cup

In the last six years the winners of thc special contest linked with the festival, had been rewarded with the Silver Cup offered by tbe President of Republic, but for the tenth anniversary the Head of State has decided to distinguish tbe event with a plate suitably coined.

The President in the edition of the 2005 and 2006 granted the High Patronage.

Furthermore the event has been sponsored by the Chairmanship of the Council of the Ministers, by the foreign affair Ministry, by tbe Ministry of tbe goods and cultural activities, of all the local govemment units: Area Abruzzo, province of Teramo, council of Giulianova, Abruzzo promotion tourism, Tercas foundation.

Tbe event is patronized by National RAI, Rete 8, TV6 and Radio Latte e Miele.

The Festival and the Media

The editions from 2005 to 2008, had a wide joumalistic prominence.

The opening day had been transmitted by two Abruzzo regional television nets Rete 8 and TV6.

Furthermore one special had been sent on air in the tansmission of RAI 1 "La vita in diretta" with Michele Cucuzza (years 2004 and 2005) and in the editions from 2006 to 2008 in the ltalian transmission “Festa Italiana” of RAI 1 with Caterina Balivo.

A special edition had been sent on air by RAI 3, while journalistic services had been transmitted by the national TG2 and the TG3 of Abruzzo by La7 Tv and Sky.

The Festival and the Turist Promotion

Nowdays tbe event represents a beautiful shop window under the turist profile for the region Abruzzo, but for the rest of the Country, too. In the festival days more than 1.500 people are lodged by the 1ocal hotels, they're musicians and delegations of the bands which take part in the shows. 1t's due to mention that in the days of the festival many fans of these shows arrive in Giulianova from every part of Italy.

It is a little but growing turist movement whìch is very significant in a period of low sesson.

Groups often take with them joumalists of their nations who collect material for television services and for printed paper. The groups that take part in the festival, after the exbibitions visit the most beautiful and significant places of our province and area, as Castelli, Civitella del Tronto, Teramo, L'Aquila, Chieti and other places full of art and hìstory.

Sìnce five consecutive years our festival has been given tbe moral sponsorsbip of Touring Club Italiano which recognized the high value for the turist promotion of this area.

Furthermore it's due to mention that since the edition 2005 the festival have been presented at the Intemational Stock Exchange of the Tourism in Milan.

In the last three years the event has obtained tbe national sponsorship of UNIONTURISMO.

The association every year publishes its official Magazine written in Italian and English.
